ive always wanted
to carve my name into a tree
what am i waiting for?
a name to share the bark with me
some memories worth saving
ive always seen
leaves fall and regrow in the spring
the things with meaning
never seem to mean anything to me
noooooo
things will work out we said, and i was dumb
dumb to believe it
you said, these things take time, and i was blind
blind not see it
ill always save a place in my heart for you
ill always be jealous of the man
who ends up getting to wake up next to you
hold on to the things
that might remind you of me
i know its not anything
not much of anything
you held your hand inside my palm
and called it home for a little bit
you laid your body against mine
and said it was a perfect fit
i wonder what its like
to be so goddamn beautiful
im here waiting if you change your mind
so goddamn pitiful
things will work out we said, and i was dumb
dumb to believe it
you said, these things take time, and i was blind
blind not see it
i always thought
but whats the point in thinking
you always talked
but your words were never sinking in
I get a definite late 90s/early 2000s Vagrant Records vibe from this. That's a good thing. The whole EP is solid, but "Current and California" is on another level... one of the best songs I've heard in a while. Jason Smith
